BOSTON Try a group tequila tasting at these agave-focused spots.
1. The dark, Gothic-style Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar opened in the Back Bay in December 2010. The tequila bar and Mexican restaurant has a bordello-like feel with crimson velvet-flocked wallpaper, tufted leather seating, and red lighting. Three distinct spaces are available for events: the 110-seat dining room, the main bar with seating for 12, and the tequila bar with space for 35. More than 200 tequilas are on offer.
2. Mija Cantina & Tequila Bar opened in Faneuil Hall in May. Available for buyout, the space can seat 140 inside and 70 on the patio. Two bars offer specialty cocktails and around 150 kinds of tequila; menu options include chili-and-cheese burgers and lobster-jalapeño tacos.
