A New Chicago Source for Bite-Sized Desserts

Ly uses traditional French baking methods to create her tiny desserts.

After completing L'Art de la Pâtisserie program at the French Pastry School, Dawn Ly founded her business, Sweet Petite, in March 2011. The local dessert company specializes in bite-size confections.

“I love the idea of individual, bite-size desserts since [it gives clients] the opportunity to sample many different flavors,” she says. “Tartlets were my first choice, because they are beautiful little pastries and a nice alternative to the whole cupcake craze.”

Ly recently began branching out into event catering and custom dessert tables, delivering to offices and event spaces in Chicago and the suburbs. Her tart flavors include salted caramel and chocolate, lemon meringue, bourbon pecan, and blueberry mascarpone. She also bakes madeleines and can make muffins and croissants for breakfast meetings. Prices average around $25 per dozen, depending on the type of treat, with additional fees for setup and delivery.
