In November, former travel industry consultant Sara Polon launched Soupergirl—a soup delivery service to offices and businesses in downtown Washington. Each Monday, clients receive an email with the current menu of made-from-scratch soups, such as Bali Hai-style carrot, Marrakech harira, and toasted honey butternut squash—all made with ingredients from the Dupont Circle farmers market. They have until Wednesday at 11 p.m. to order one or more soups for the following week. A one pint container is $6.75; a quart is $12.75. Polon has downtown pick-up sites for her soups or she delivers for an additional charge of $1.85. You can order a single pint or as much as 50 quarts for a business meeting.
