In a tough advertising climate, magazines pull out all the stops to bring in ad money. At Conde Nast Traveler's 15th anniversary party at the American Museum of Natural History, the mag promoted Carolina Herrera's Chic as the event's exclusive fragrance. Bottles of the eau de parfum spray were placed in the women's restroom, along with some simple purple flowers and floating candles in glass vases. The branding was a smooth way of marketing the scent to a select slice of New York society: Some of the event's attendees included Third Watch stars Amy Carlson and Kim Raver, and models Bridget Hall and Audrey Quock. Chic samples were also handed out in the gift bag. (The guys missed out: There were no fragrance samples in the men's loo.)
