TORONTO
- December 10, 2007 - David Adler, C.E.O. and founder
of BizBash Media, announced today that his company
has formally taken over ownership of BizBash Toronto
under the name BizBash Canada Ltd. Previously,
BizBash Toronto was published under license by
Stanley Shenkman. The company is entering its fifth
year of operations and has become the go-to place
for anyone planning, organizing, and executing
meetings and events in the greater Toronto area.
On February 20, 2008, the BizBash Event Style Show,
a trade show for event planners, will feature world-renowned
event planner Preston Bailey as its keynote speaker.
The show will be held at the Direct Energy Centre
in Toronto.
Adler said, “We are grateful to Stanley and
his team for helping to build the BizBash brand
in and around Toronto. We send our sincere gratitude
and appreciation for a tremendous job well done.”
BizBash also announced that Michael Braun has been
hired as associate publisher of BizBash Toronto
and Susan O’Neill has been named bureau chief,
effective immediately. “The addition of these
two highly qualified professionals reinforces our
commitment to the development and expansion of
our brand,” Adler said. “Michael is
uniquely suited to be our key business voice in
Toronto, and Susan is an award-winning journalist
with outstanding credentials.”
Braun is a seasoned marketing and advertising executive
with more than 10 years of experience in the Canadian
marketplace. He has overseen all aspects of managing
trade publications in fields related to BizBash
Media, including catering, travel, food services,
and wine and spirits. Event management has played
an important role in his career, which gives him
the requisite insider knowledge so useful to BizBash
readers. In addition, his widespread business and
investment community relationships will be assets
in his new position.
O’Neill has 10 years of newspaper reporting
experience in Toronto. Most recently, she was the
city hall reporter for Toronto Community News,
a group of nine community newspapers. She began
her stint there in 2002, and was writing for them
when she won the 2005 CIDA Award for Excellence
in Writing on International Cooperation. She began
contributing to Centre of the City when
the upscale lifestyle magazine was launched in
spring 2004. She holds a postgraduate degree in
journalism from Centennial College.
BizBash (www.bizbash.com) is the
most-visited Web site in the world for professional
event planners, producers, and suppliers, with
an average of 300,000 unique visits monthly.
According to Adler, “BizBash is
where planners go to satisfy their hunger for ideas.
Our products provide planners with a backstage
pass to see how others are orchestrating events.
They are able to peek over the fence to see everything
from strategy to decor and from invitation concepts
to after-event follow-up. Our stars are not the
celebrities who attended the event. We focus on
corporate and association and nonprofit planners,
and the reasons an event was or was not successful.”
