New York, June 18, 2002 - BiZBash Event Media,
the targeted media company serving the event, trade
show, meeting and business entertaining community in
New York City, released the summer issue of its new
business-to-business newspaper, the BiZBash Event
Style Reporter. The new issue has a special cover
story on trends in meetings and events, called "What's
Fresh Now," and behind-the-scenes stories from recent
events including the Robin Hood Foundation benefit,
the Grammy awards press conference and the James Beard
Foundation's food awards.
"This is an interesting time for event planners, because
they need to strike a balance between creating events
and meetings that have a strong impact on people, while
still feeling appropriate to the times," says Chad Kaydo,
Editor in Chief of BiZBash. "This issue focuses on meeting
that challenge. We spoke to experts from across the
industry to get a sense of what feels appropriate, fun
and fresh for events and meetings right now."
Trends from the "What's Fresh Now" report include:
- Getting guests to interact with their food by offering
choices of sauces, toppings or ingredients
- Hosting family-friendly events so parents don't
feel guilty leaving their kids at home
- Theme parties that help save money by using décor
that has been used at other events
- Taking events on tour to multiple markets instead
of making people travel to one place
- Homey, comfortable venues like new restaurants
Butter, Chateau, NYC, and Industry (Food)
- Using technology to measure attendees' responses
at meetings
- Speakers known for their gravitas (like Walter
Cronkite or Tom Brokaw)
- Gifts that have a calming effect, like candles,
plants or aromatherapy items
Other stories in this issue include behind-the-scenes
looks at the Robin Hood Foundation's fund-raiser, the
James Beard Foundation awards, and promotional parties
thrown by Jockey and Food & Wine magazine. Other
sections showcase new resources, including dunk tanks
for summer picnics, plastic ice cubes that can light
up drinks, fashion-forward trade show lanyards and New
York's newest event and meeting venues.
The BiZBash Event Style Reporter is a 56-page,
four-color publication with news from actual New York
City events and stories about event resources and industry
leaders, and will complement the company's online service,
BiZBash.com, and its annual trade show, the BiZBash
Javits Meeting and Event Expo-The Fresh Idea Show. The
first issue debuted in March 2002 with a circulation
of 20,000. Marketing partners and advertisers included
in the summer issue include American Express, ESPN Zone,
the New York Marriott Marquis, the Hudson Hotel and
Radio City Music Hall.
BiZBash Event Media publishes the BiZBash
Event Style Reporter newspaper and the BiZBash
Event Style Alert email newsletters, and hosts the
annual BiZBash Javits Meeting and Event Expo-The Fresh
Idea Show. The company was founded on the premise that
the regional meeting, event and trade show market is
underserved. Prior to September 11th, New York hosted
more than 100,000 business events and meetings each
year, representing a $4 billion marketplace.
