New York, September 3, 2002 - The first BiZBash
CaterWaiter Fashion Show and Passed Hors d'oeuvres
Tasting Competition will take place on Wednesday,
October 9th at 4 p.m. at the Javits Center as part of
the 2nd Annual BiZBash Javits Meeting and Event Expo
2002 - The Fresh Idea Show. More than 50 CaterWaiters
from New York City's top venues, hotels, restaurants
and catering firms will glide along the BiZBash runway
dressed in the finest event serving fashions, each with
a tray of the most original passed hors d'oeuvres in
the world.
According to David Adler, CEO of BiZBash, "It's a fun
event, but the BiZBash CaterWaiter Fashion Show also
has a more important mission: to elevate the art of
event orchestration and to give it the respect it deserves
as a vital industry in New York City that creates thousands
of jobs and contributes significantly to the city's
economy."
"Great entertaining is the art of combining food,
presentation and hospitality to create an unforgettable
experience. The wealth of talent in New York City is
astonishing! Our chefs and food experts are among the
most accomplished in the world. New York also has the
world's most experienced, polished and attractive CaterWaiters
because event serving is traditionally a way for actors,
models and students to earn a living while awaiting
fame and fortune," Adler said.
The 30-minute BiZBash CaterWaiter Fashion Show will
feature a fabulous surprise emcee and of-the-moment
DJ to pace the models and their hors' d'oeuvres trays
along the catwalk. A panel of judges will present awards
to winners and runners-up in seven categories: best
tasting hors d'oeuvres, best presentation of classic
hors d'oeuvres, most original hors d'oeuvres, best classic
fashion (male and female), most original fashion/uniform
(male and female), best-looking waiter and waitress,
and best overall winner.
The judges will represent the corporate, food, fashion,
and hospitality/special events industries. Those scheduled
to appear include: Audrey J. Bird, CMP, managing director
of International Meeting Planners, Ltd.; Peter Elliot,
food and wine editor of Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg
11:30 A.M.; Gael Green, restaurant critic of New
York Magazine; Christina Ha, host/reporter for MetroTV's
