Washington, D.C.—October
1, 2007—David Adler, C.E.O. and
founder of BizBash Media, announced
today that Bruce Zalbe has been named publisher for
the company’s Washington, D.C., and mid-Atlantic
operations. As publisher for BizBash,
the comprehensive resource for event and meeting
planners and marketers,
Zalbe will help lead BizBash’s
expansion in this territory and enable the company
to launch its quarterly magazine in the nation’s
capital , starting in the spring of 2008.
In addition to the Washington, D.C., edition of BizBash magazine,
plans for the region include a comprehensive Web site,
a free weekly email newsletter, and educational programs.
Based on its international buying footprint, Washington,
D.C., is the largest association and nonprofit planning
market in the country, according to BizBash research.
On a local level, Washington is the eighth-largest
business event and meeting market in the United States,
with over $900 million in spending.
“We are thrilled to have Bruce lead the Washington BizBash team,” said
Adler. “He has all the right stuff to make this
most important market soar.” Adler added, “There are more
than 30,000 corporate and nonprofit events held annually
in Washington, and nearly 500 important venues. BizBash estimates
that there are more than 15,000 full- or part-time
corporate or nonprofit planners in the area. Bruce
Zalbe will make sure BizBash reaches
the largest audience of decision-makers by directly
serving this crucial audience.”
A seasoned marketing and advertising executive with
more than 22 years of national professional experience,
with a focus on the Washington market, Zalbe, 44, has
designed innovative strategies and tactics, executed
campaigns, and conquered marketing, advertising, public
relations, and event challenges for dozens of corporate
entities.
As managing partner at Treseler Zalbe, he built relationships
and created strategic plans for clients including Citrix
Government Systems, the UPS Store, NARI Metro DC, Dick’s
Sporting Goods, and Philip Morris USA. At Z Entertainment,
owned and operated by Zalbe, he researched, recommended,
and bought corporate partnership packages from the
PGA Tour, the NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA, and the Verizon
Center. Zalbe has worked with clients including UPS,
Blue Cross Blue Shield, Hecht’s, the New York
Jets, Nielson Media Research, and Subway.
Zalbe also represented a host of celebrity athletes
from 35 sports— including Anna Kournikova, Martina
Hingis, Lleyton Hewitt, and Tom Kite—while at
Octagon, an international leader in sports and entertainment.
A 1985 graduate of the University of Maryland, Zalbe
created promotions for various Trump projects, including
Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino, the Castle, and Taj
Mahal, all in Atlantic City, New Jersey, while at Smith
Burke & Azzam Advertising.
With the addition of Washington, BizBash will
serve six major metropolitan markets, including New
York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Florida, and Chicago. The New
York September/October issue of BizBash was
just released with more than 260 pages —a record
for the company.
