When it comes to art festivals, Art Basel takes the cake. Every December, collectors, curators, dealers, and art lovers alike-a total of 43,000 this year alone-migrate to Miami to see the latest contemporary art displays. The festival is based at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with satellite exhibits around the beach, design district, and Wynwood art district. Some of this year's satellite exhibition venues included Soho Studios showcasing Pulse Miami; the Miami Botanical Gardens, which housed the Art Sound Lounge; the Moore Building, which featured the “Design Miami” exhibit; and the Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel on SoBe, which hosted the “In Fashion '07” photo exhibit, among others.
With a selection of art from 200 galleries across 30 countries, the city showcased many well-known international artists, as well as an impressive array of up-and-coming talent throughout the four-day fair.
