CHICAGO On September 26 and 27, Hendrick's Gin hosted “Voyages Into the Unusual” at Chicago's Salvage One. Designed to showcase the gin and its atypical properties—the drink contains a blend of 11 botanical ingredients, for instance, as well as infusions of cucumber and rose petals—the event offered unusual methods of drink service.
At one bar, dubbed the “Monster Box,” a server wearing a fuzzy glove that resembled a monster paw stood behind a small curtain. When guests approached the curtain, the beastly hand poked through holding a drink. Several cocktails were on offer at the bar, so the particular concoction that each guest received was a surprise.
