Founded in 1914, this Baltimore museum occupies a John Russell Pope designed building from the 1920s in park-like setting. In November 2012, the wing for contemporary art, added in 1994, unveils the first phase of a $24.5 million renovation which adds state-of-the art lighting and new wall and floor finishes. The BMA, is renowned for its collections of Post-Impressionist and modern art. Rental spaces available include the Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Auditorium seating 363 as well as the Fox and Schaefer Courts, and Garden Room. The Contemporary Wing can be rented in conjunction with Schaefer Court which holds 300 reception. No food or drink is permitted in the Contemporary Wing. The Museum does not host political, religious, or fundraising events.
