Belgian expat and former I.B.M. employee Thomas DeGeest traded in corporate life for one on the streets: With waffle iron in hand, he churns out fresh hot Belgian and Liege cakes in the traditional manner at his new mobile waffle stand, Wafels & Dinges. Though the sweet creations—dusted with sugar and cinnamon, topped with strawberries, or smothered in chocolate—are typically street fare, DeGeest offers delivery and catering options in the tristate area. Hire the cheery yellow truck to come to your event; the cost is $20 per person or a $200 minimum in Manhattan. If you can’t work the truck into the party, DeGeest and his team can bake crisp waffles on-site (for a minimum of 40 people or $400, plus a $200 setup charge).
