Peony & Plum Floral Design owner Susan Tom-Nellis grew up in Honolulu, and she brings the island's colorful and casual sensibilities to her work. "I definitely have an eclectic, organic sensibility and like to mix traditional flowers with more modern ones," Tom-Nellis says. "I use a lot of nontraditional containers as well—it's rare for me to use a glass vase." Logs, tree branches, wood, and ceramics often serve as foundations for her pieces. Peony & Plum can supply flowers for moderately sized events. (Tom-Nellis works mostly out of her home but has access to a larger work space for bigger projects.) Arrangements start at about $175.
