* INCOMING *

1. MTV'S LOW V.M.A. RATINGS: It seems Thursday's event-heavy evening—Fashion's Night Out, the Democratic National Convention, and the Toronto International Film Festival kickoff—had negative effects on the Video Music Awards numbers. Deadline: “Despite being the top show on cable, the network’s Video Music Awards lost more than half its audience compared with the 2011 show, which drew a record 12.4 million viewers. [This year’s] V.M.A.s pulled in 6.1 million and earned a 2.8 rating, far below 2011’s 6.2.” http://bit.ly/P9noH8

TRADE SHOW SWAG: A study conducted by the Promotional Products Association International found that 71.6 percent of trade show attendees that receive promotional items remember the brand or company better. Based on the findings, The Journal Sentinel has some thoughts on the most effective trade show swag. http://bit.ly/OuM1vd
