MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA In mid-February, the Diabetes Research Institute's Love and Hope Ball brought plenty of shimmer to the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, Florida. At the benefit, which featured a concert from Barry Gibb, tables were draped in sequined tablecloths—and the centerpieces quite literally sparkled.
Sparklers from Sparktacular Inc. were placed in flower arrangements and triggered remotely by event staffers at a certain point in the evening's program. “They were set off on cue after Love and Hope Ball life chairman Sonja Zuckerman’s time-honored phrase, 'Now let’s eat, drink, dance, and have a ball,'” said a rep for the host organization. “We made sure to get permits from the fire department and had their supervision in order to ensure the safety of our guests and those in the hotel.” Xquisite Events designed the centerpieces, which contained fuchsia, red, and yellow flowers.
