Potter's, a clubby bar and lounge, opened in April in the Loop's Palmer House Hilton. Named for the hotel's legendary founder, Potter Palmer, the lounge is part of the historic hotel's ongoing $150 million renovation.

A few steps above the main seating area, Potter's features an expansive bar flanked by glass columns containing white feathers, a cheeky reference to fan dancer Sally Rand, who was a popular entertainer in Chicago in the 1930s. The space also pays homage to other Chicago icons with black-and-white portraits of the likes of Hugh Hefner, John Belushi, Walter Payton, Louis Prima, and Nat King Cole.

Chef Phillip Foss of Lockwood, the Palmer House's three-star restaurant (which opened in November), created a menu of upscale bar snacks, salads, and sandwiches for Potter's, including truffled potato chips, steamed mussels, and Angus burgers. The cocktail program consists of such classics as kir royales, gin fizzes, whiskey sours, and Singapore slings.

The entire space, which seats 120, can be rented for private events.
