River North's New French Bistro Channels 1960s Paris
Madame Tartine opened up in River North in early July. True to its name, the French bistro specializes in tartines (open-face French sandwiches) but also represents an array of Parisian classics like mussels marinated in white wine, herbs, and cream; cheese-topped onion soup, and steak frites. Thanks to rolling cheese, champagne, and dessert carts, the wait staff offers plenty of table-side service.

The restaurant's interior channels 1960s Paris with vintage black-and-white wallpaper, French flea market finds, and background music headlined by the likes of Serge Gainsbourg. In case the theme isn't apparent, there are also photos of Brigitte Bardot lining the walls and a display case filled with paper-wrapped baguettes, which are baked onsite.

An umbrella-topped outdoor patio can seat roughly 100 guests. Inside, a back room can seat 50 or accommodate 75 for cocktails, while the front room can seat 25. The restaurant is available for full buyouts, and the interior can hold roughly 200 for cocktails; so, if combined with seating on the outdoor patio, the restaurant could host a summertime event for as many as 300 guests.
