| Old Oak Tap Brings a Beer Garden to West Town |
|
A homey feeling pervades Old Oak Tap, which opened in West Town in August. The first thing guests encounter is a 1,500-square-foot beer garden that can accommodate as many as 100 (the largest in the neighborhood). The patio features stone accents, wooden bench seating surrounding the perimeter, and no shortage of greenery, while 10-foot-tall double oak doors lead the way indoors.
The bilevel restaurant is adorned with natural materials and warm earth tones. The 30-foot river rock-encrusted bar and tabletops are built of reclaimed barn wood, while a slate fireplace anchors the first-floor space. Three six- by six-foot windows overhead allow outside light to illuminate the rooms. Seating for 70 is available at communal tables, banquettes, and a wine barrel table on the first floor. |

The second floor of Old Oak Tap looks over the main level and can be used as an intimate lounge or private event space for as many as 50 guests. The area features wrap-around bench seating in olive green suede, a second wood-burning fireplace, and a full-service bar.
Old Oak Tap's rustic menu comes courtesy of chef John Manion, formerly of Latin American mainstay Mas. Expect juiced up comfort food like ancho-rubbed turkey and Chinese five-spice pork belly. Menus can be customized for private parties, and a global beer and wine list is also on tap.
