CHICAGO On the third floor of the Art Institute of Chicago's Modern Wing, Terzo Piano is a modern Italian restaurant that opened in 2009. In December, the space quietly unveiled a semiprivate dining room.

Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the downtown skyline, the space can host seated dinners for 26 to 80 and receptions for 26 to 100. Options are also available for groups of fewer than 26.

Chef and partner Tony Mantuano and chef di cucina Meg Collaran Sahs oversee the event menus. Passed hors d'oeuvres may include mini lamb burgers and crostini with local mushrooms, goat cheese, and tarragon-almond pesto. Plated lunches and dinners offer items such as steak salad, handcrafted ravioli, and Amish chicken leg with herb dumplings. The beverage program includes cocktails prepared with house-made sodas.
