Comic conventions aren’t just about comic books anymore. The two most famous, Comic-Con International in San Diego and New York Comic Con, regularly draw over 100,000 fans to their annual conventions to get sneak previews of comics, video games, and film; to buy merchandise; to meet TV and movie stars; and to immerse themselves in the various parties and festive atmosphere. And smaller conventions like C2E2 in Chicago still regularly draw an increasingly growing crowd.
This year’s Comic-Con International took place July 21 to 24 and drew 130,000 people to the San Diego Convention Center and surrounding parties and events.
