DK Ibomeka is one of Canada’s fastest rising singing sensations. Standing at six feet seven inches, DK is a towering stage presence, an outstanding entertainer with a big, three-octave voice.
DK Ibomeka’s music is inspired by the voices of Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holliday, Nina Simone and Joe Williams. His performances cross the boundaries of Jazz, Pop, Soul, and Blues and this blend reflects his appeal to a wide range of audiences.
DK Ibomeka’s live performances leave audiences both entertained and inspired by his warm, rich, expressive voice and engaging stage presence.
DK Ibomeka’s appearances include opening spots for Holly Cole and Buffy Sainte-Marie, a featured spot at the Montreal Jazz Festival “Voices of Soul” show, filmed for PBS television at Montréal’s Place des Arts - where DK shared the stage with the Neville Brothers and Patti Labelle, and headlining appearances at Toronto’s Hugh’s Room, The Top O’ The Senator (three separate multi-evening engagements), and the Distillery Jazz Festival (in both ’04 & ‘05). DK has also taped a featured performance for “Toronto Sings”, an Insight Productions TV documentary on new faces in the music industry.
DK Ibomeka will be launching his debut full length CD in early 2006, featuring his unique blend of jazz, pop and soul with a touch of the blues.
DK’s performance repertoire consists of both original and classic songs accompanied by jazz trained musicians. Song selections include classics by his vocal inspirations (Ray Charles, Billy Holliday, Joe Williams, Nina Simone and Ella Fitgerald)
