Earth Bloor West: Locavore Restaurant With Private Rooms, Lower-Level Event Space

Toronto restaurateur Ed Ho has been busy, expanding his hold on the Toronto local food scene with the June opening of Earth Bloor West. The 18,000-square-foot space features a main-floor restaurant, bar, and private room, a second-floor event space, and a rooftop patio. The new downstairs event and lounge area is scheduled to open on October 29 with an inaugural “Hell on Earth” Halloween party.
 
The new event space takes over the lower level of the three-storey restaurant and has a night lounge vibe. The space comes with a built-in bar and stage and can accommodate up to 300. Leather banquettes and tables line the lounge area, which can be cleared for larger groups, and a late-night menu is available. The walls are painted dark gray and the furniture adds wood and metal accents.

The rest of the restaurant has multiple options for events. The first floor is divided into three spaces: the wine bar, the private room, and the dining room. The wine bar can seat 40 or accommodate 120 for cocktails. The private room is at the back of the space, and can hold 50 for dinner or 90 for a reception. The dining room can accommodate 100 seated or 300 for a reception. None of the booths that normally line the dining area are nailed down, allowing the space to be completely customizable. The second floor, called the Mezzanine, can accommodate up to 80 for a cocktail reception. Windows have a view of Bloor Street and the space overlooks the bar. The Mezzanine has direct access to the rooftop space, which seats 75.  

Local, natural materials of Earth Bloor West match the locavore menu. Slate tiles and reclaimed barn wood create the interior. The walls are painted dark gray and textured black furniture lines the space. The entire space is available for buyout and can hold up to 735 guests. Extras include a special events menu, on-site parking, and full audiovisual capabilities.
