LOS ANGELES With all the competing Emmy parties on the weekend calendar, organizers are working hard to differentiate one from the next—whether with invitations, decor, or music. Here's a rundown of who's performing at some of the weekend's biggest bashes.
TV Guide will bring the Bravery to headline the magazine’s sixth annual after-party on Sunday. MGMT (currently on a sold-out tour with Beck) will also perform, and Samantha Ronson will round out the performance lineup at the Kress. TV Guide has brought Missy Elliot, Pink, John Legend, and Kanye West in the past three years.
Entertainment Tonight will bring Billy Idol to its event, sponsored by People, at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The party will also feature music from saxophonist Dave Koz, who will perform on the venue's Blue Ribbon patio. KCRW’s Jason Bentley will return as DJ. Duran Duran headlined last year's event, and Prince and Earth, Wind & Fire have appeared in the past.
For Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmy party on Saturday night at the Beverly Hills Post Office space, first-time event sponsor Seagate will provide memory storage on its new FreeAgent drives for DJ Michael Smith, who will work from a custom-built booth.
