| Berkshire Meeting Expected to Draw 30,000 in Omaha |
|
This weekend's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. shareholders meeting was expected to draw 30,000 people, according to a report on Friday in The Chicago Tribune. Held in Omaha and led by Warren Buffett, the weekend-long gathering involved a welcome session on Friday, an all-day meeting on Saturday, and a slew of events on Sunday.
According to The Tribune, Berkshire meetings—which draw investors who have earned millions by doing business with Buffett—tend to feel like "a celebration of mutual good fortune," and attendees seem awed by the opportunity to address their investing guru. During the annual Q-and-A session, Buffett and partner Charlie Munger sit at a table in the civic center (a large venue normally used to host sporting events) while guests take turns using a microphone to ask questions "with wavery voices that bring to mind Dorothy and the Scarecrow addressing the Wizard of Oz."
A presumably less humbling feature of this year's meeting: a display of the "world's largest brick," which is a product of a Berkshire subsidiary.
