Once again the Young Fellows of the Frick Collection turned out a well-heeled crowd of swankily attired art patrons for its annual benefit. Following last year's Tartan-themed event--which got socialites in plaid dresses, made society shutterbug Bill Cunningham's list of his favorite events of 2001, and inspired a Sex and the City scene--the fund-raiser drew a crowd of young society names who dressed to fit the theme. Entitled F?te des Quatre Saisons, this year's gala was inspired by a series of paintings of the four seasons by 18th century painter Francois Boucher.

The four seasons decor was interpreted throughout the museum's rooms and halls by event designer Ron Wendt of Ron Wendt Designs and Robert Rufino, vice president of creative services at Tiffany & Company, one of the event's corporate sponsors. The duo decorated the museum entrance with a winter theme, which included an arch of 15-foot-tall cherry and birch tree branches lit by rich blue lights from Frost Lighting with snow flocking set at the base. More birch branches were wrapped around the chandeliers.

Spring and summer themes took over the garden court with fabric draped around the columns and floral arches wrapped with pink roses and blue and purple hydrangea, delphinium and lilies. The garden court's fountain was lined with blue votive candles. The autumn-themed music room (where DJ Tom Finn spun dance music) featured a 15-foot-tall faux tree wrapped in tulle and topped with silk leaves in copper, gold and moss green colors.

The event offered hors d'oeuvres and desserts from Tentation, which set out a lovely buffet table laden with finger foods like mini prosciutto and arugula sandwiches and maple walnut muffins with Virginia ham and apricot butter. Among the passed hors d'oeuvres were steamed chicken and shrimp dumplings and jerk chicken rolls, and the dessert table offered fruit tartlets, cookies, brownies and truffles.

Badgley Mischka, another event sponsor, clad event co-chairs Marina Rust Connor, Lauren duPont, Nathalie Gerschel Kaplan and Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer in specially designed gowns reflecting each season. And the women weren't the only ones who got in on the fun--several men wore season-themed masks, bow-ties, vests and hats with their black-tie togs.
