HBO Guests Saw Red (Roses) at Emmy Bash

At HBO's post-Emmy awards party, Images by Lighting projected roses throughout the Pacific Design Center.

HBO's post-Emmy awards party at the Pacific Design Center had flowery decor—an appropriate theme considering everything came up roses for the network, which won 32 awards, far more than any other network at this year's ceremony.

Eileen Rivard, vice president of special events for HBO, and Billy Butchkavitz of Billy Butchkavitz Event Design placed roses on the furniture and in the centerpieces, and Images by Lighting projected images of them onto the floor, walls, and ceiling.

The invited celebrities—including Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Jeffrey Wright—entered a 10,000-square-foot red tent via a red carpet bridge built over one of the Design Center's reflecting pools. Once inside, they mingled on the outdoor patio—which featured a leopard-print carpet—and danced in two dance pavilions with red lacquered floors. DJ Qool Marv flew out from New York to keep guests grooving. (The copious champagne donated by Moët & Chandon didn't hurt either.)

Astra West offered hors d'oeuvres like ahi tartare and coconut crisp shrimp, and entrées including peppercorn-encrusted New York strip loin and sweet potato mascarpone lasagna. And for dessert? Moët champagne smoothies, chocolate cake, cheesecake, crème brulee, and fruit—followed by HBO-branded cinnamon breath mints in the party's signature shade, red.
