June 4, 2014: Stanley Cup Tickets Could Set Record Prices, Starbucks Launches Food Truck, Event Company Recreates 'Back to the Future' Town


1. STANLEY CUP TICKETS COULD SET RECORD PRICES: Tickets to the Stanley Cup hockey championship could set records, beating even prices for Super Bowl XLVIII this February, when tickets sold for an average of  $2,536 each on the secondary market. New York magazine: “Tickets on the secondary market for the Rangers' Stanley Cup Final home games are so astronomically expensive that it would actually be cheaper for a fan to fly from New York to Los Angeles, stay in a hotel, and attend one of the games at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In fact, it's possible that Game 6—a potential Cup-clinching game at Madison Square Garden—could be the most expensive ticket in New York sports history.” http://nym.ag/1pESFnQ

2. STARBUCKS LAUNCHES FOOD TRUCK: Starbucks has joined the food truck trend, debuting a colorful Frappuccino Truck for a mobile marketing tour in California. Huffington Post: “The Frappuccino Truck offers a selection of Starbucks classic drinks and limited-time beverages, as well as jenga, oversize croquet (where space permits), and a digital jukebox. The truck will be touring select cities in California through June 30.” http://huff.to/1p4H0ME

3. EVENT COMPANY RECREATES ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’ TOWN: A theater and event company will recreate the fictional town in the 1980s classic movie Back to the Future as an immersive experience for fans this summer. Mashable: “Future Cinema stages ‘live cinema experiences,’ building entire sets in order to bring two-dimensional films to life. … Audience members can also attend a screening after-party, which will be modeled after the Enchantment Under the Sea prom dance from Back to the Future.” http://on.mash.to/1pETgWz

BOSTON:  The Catered Affair’s newest venue partner is 9OFS. In the financial district, the venue has 6,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space and a 30,000-square-foot terrace.

CHICAGO:  The first Mac & Cheese Fest will take place at the UIC Forum on October 4. Benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana, the event will offer mac 'n' cheese dishes from 60 local chefs.

LAS VEGAS:  The Mob Museum will host a Cuban-theme “Hot Havana Nights” event on August 7, in collaboration with the Cuban Heritage Foundation and the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce.

Giada De Laurentiis’s first restaurant, Giada, is now open at the Cromwell Las Vegas.

She by Morton’s, a steak house from Eva Longoria located inside the Crystals shops at the Aria casino, has closed.

LOS ANGELES:  Maxim’s “Hot 100” event is slated for June 10 at the Pacific Design Center.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA:  Pubbelly Restaurant Group plans to open L’echon Brasserie this summer at the renovated Hilton Cabana Miami Beach. The 2,500-square-foot space will seat 130 guests and have an oceanfront patio.

NASHVILLE:  Ovation Inc., a provider of integrated technology solutions for complex events, has acquired Nashville-based Rabbit Hole Creative, a leading multimedia design firm specializing in creating cutting-edge digital media experiences for large-scale entertainment and corporate events.

NEW YORK:  Catering by Restaurant Associates, known as CxRA after a brand refresh, also has debuted new uniforms for waitstaff in white with shades of gray.
