LOS ANGELES The 51st Grammy Awards show will take to the Staples Center on Sunday evening, to much televised pomp. But the pre-telecast ceremony, scheduled for 1 p.m. to 3:45 at the Los Angeles Convention Center on the same day, has grown into a large-scale event of its own, with thousands of guests to attend, including many nominees. The pre-telecast ceremony will stream live on the Grammys' Web site, and will remain online for 30 days following the event.
Hosting and performing at the pre-telecast will be Grammy nominees Wayne Brady and Tia Carrere. Additional live performances include Latin Grammy-winning singer Lila Downs, Grammy-winning classical artist Hilary Hahn, and current Grammy nominee Heavy D. Included among the presenters of awards in about 100 pre-telecast categories will be four-time Grammy-winning gospel singer Yolanda Adams and actor Blair Underwood. John Cossette Productions produces the pre-telecast ceremony.
