Fox's new series Glee concerns the ins and outs of daily life at a high school—so a themey screening and party at the Willows Community School in Culver City was in order to kick off the show's first season, which the network has aggressively marketed all summer long in anticipation of the premiere. Fox vice president of special events Tomiko Iwata oversaw the event, tapping Sequoia Productions to produce it.
The screening of an episode of Glee—which had the audience roaring with laughter at times—took place in the school's gym, where pom-poms sat on chairs and hand-painted posters with messages like "Fight, fight, fight" lined the walls. A squad of cheerleaders in outfits with Glee logos kicked off the screening with chants about the network and the show.

FROM NEW YORK
Major League Baseball rolled out a red carpet yesterday afternoon that stretched from 40th Street to Central Park South (a total of 19 city blocks) and covered more than 95,000 square feet of the Avenue of the Americas. The floor covering was for the All-Star Game Red Carpet Parade presented by Chevy, and over the course of two hours, the members of this year’s All-Star teams and 49 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame (who were transported in the backs of pick-up trucks).
Though red in hue, the carpet was green in design and construction. Created by California-based firm Bentley Prince Street Inc., the parade’s largest production element was made entirely of recycled fibers. Green-e renewable energy certificates and the use of on-site solar power also offset any electricity used during the carpet’s construction.

Chevy Event Nudges Kids' Interest in Green Technology

Kids—some too young to hold a driver’s permit, others too small to peer over the steering wheel of a car—were the preferred guests at last night’s “Chevy Rocks the Future” event, held at the Buena Vista lot at Walt Disney Studios. Part of the car manufacturer’s “Driving Hollywood Green” campaign, the event exposed Hollywood’s youngest celebrities, local schoolchildren, and a selection of kids who had won the opportunity to attend (through call-in contests to Radio Disney or an online sweepstakes at Disney.com) to Chevy’s line of gas-friendly and gas-free cars.
“We wanted to engage tomorrow’s influencers while introducing them and their families to Chevy’s lineup of new technologies and vehicles in a fun and interactive way,” said Christie Conti, experiential marketing director for the public relations division of General Motor’s R Works, an in-house promotions agency that formulated the event concept along with the company’s Western region general manager, Susan Docherty.
