Radar Entertainment Merges With Plug
As of March 1, Radar Entertainment and Plug Ltd. are one entity, merging their clients and their staffs to form a full-service marketing firm. Running under the Radar name, the bicoastal company (with offices in New York and Los Angeles) will now offer creative direction, marketing, promotion, and event services for entertainment, sports, music, lifestyle, and luxury fashion clients.

Radar head Geoff Renaud, who has a background in concert and music festival production, founded the company in 2003, working with clients such as Nike, Facebook, Pepsi, Jaguar, and Deutsche Bank. (See his most recent events for DWS Scudder here and here.) Lyman Carter, meanwhile, formed Plug in 2001, producing fashion events for brands including Prada, Burberry, Diesel, and Oliver Peoples.

"Lyman and I have been working together for years," Renaud told us today. "The merger comes at a perfect time for both of us, and it's really a case of 'one plus one equals three' with us joining forces. We'll be taking on marketing and events for some of the best names out there, and our combined resources make for what we hope will be a real powerhouse in the industry."   —Courtney Thompson

DWS Scudder Promotes Climate-Change Funds in Jungle Tent

After taking over Rodeo Drive with a snow-themed stunt in Los Angeles, DWS Scudder brought the heat to the South Street Seaport on Friday, creating a mini Amazon jungle to promote the group's climate-change-related funds. The retail sect of Deutsche Bank's asset-management division, DWS Scudder is targeting the financial community, specifically the financial press, with a road show of 80 events demonstrating the impact of climate change while also raising awareness about the investment opportunities the company is offering.

Friday's stunt was quick, kicking off with an 11 a.m. press conference and wrapping up public tours at 2 p.m. A 60- by 30-foot clear tent was home to more than 500 exotic plants, four tropical birds, an 85-pound green anaconda snake, and 80-degree temperatures. While it was too congested with stroller-toting-tourists and press to give a true feel of the Amazon, the space did successfully transport guests from the 40-degree temps outside. MORE >>

DWS Scudder, the U.S. retail unit of Deutsche Bank’s asset management division, took an eye-catching approach for a press conference and public stunt yesterday by transforming the Two Rodeo shopping complex into a 90-foot ski slope and ski village.

The setup kicked off a nationwide road show for DWS Scudder, consisting of more than 80 events, as part of a strategy to raise awareness for investment opportunities within DWS Scudder's climate-change fund—without taking a political or environmental position. “We want to show that climate change is at our doorstep; that’s really why we made snow in Los Angeles,” said Philipp Hensler, C.E.O. and chairman of DWS Scudder Distributors.
