| Little Tokyo Service Center Cancels Tofu Fest |
|
If a tofu festival could survive anywhere in the U.S., it would probably be in Los Angeles. Even so, the long-running L.A. Tofu Festival, which generally bows in August, has come to an end. The Little Tokyo Service Center that hosted the event has posted the following announcement on its Web site: "Thank you for your many years of support. We’ve enjoyed delicious tofu dishes with you under the sun for the last 12 years and thank you for helping to make the L.A. Tofu Festival one of the top food festivals in Los Angeles. As redevelopment in Little Tokyo and downtown Los Angeles continues to boom, venues for such a large-scale event have become scarce." More than 25,000 attended last year.
The Little Tokyo Service Center did host its third annual sake- and food-tasting benefit on May 22 at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
