Network execs and television critics, along with fans of Bridezillas and Bulging Brides, came together last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to celebrate WE TV’s lineup of reality bridal television. “We wanted to highlight our bridal programming, and no better way to do that than to have a bride and groom and do a mock wedding [reception],” said WE TV vice president of brand experience and events Heather Umen.

Complete with a rose-petal walkway and bride and groom actors, the mock wedding reception featured a wedding cake, a red-velvet cupcake tier, and a signature cocktail: "We Go Bridal Bellini,"—named for the network’s Sunday-night program block. On the patio, a three-piece jazz trio set the musical tone of the evening while guests took pictures at a photo booth.

The idea was to have a cocktail reception parallel to a Platinum Wedding, one of the network’s bridal-themed shows. Los Angeles Party Designs’ Clint Upchurch dressed the event in the show’s signature bridal colors, with teal and white chairs, tablecloths, and centerpieces. “I’m a big bridal show fan, so when they came to me and said that they want to evoke the feel of a Platinum Wedding, I knew exactly what to do,” said Upchurch. The mock bride and groom spent the evening taking pictures and mingling with guests—just like at an actual wedding.
