On Monday, Laney Kapgan joined the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (Glaad) as the new associate director of corporate relations. In her new role, Kapgan is responsible for fund-raising events, focusing primarily on securing corporate sponsorships and developing corporate relationships to help the nonprofit reach its special events revenue goal of $4 million. She’ll also oversee logistical details like making sure the internal team adheres to timelines and budget restrictions for events like the Glaad Media Awards. Kapgan, who will report to the director of special events and sponsorships, will mostly work on events west of the Mississippi, but will also assist with national projects.

As the former director of special events for Chrysalis, Kapgan helped that organization raise $1.7 million through myriad events, and brought companies like Mercedes-Benz and Saks Fifth Avenue on as sponsors.
