For 25th Running, Breeders Cup Returns to Los Angeles
Thoroughbred racing's Breeders’ Cup World Championship returns to Los Angeles this weekend—where it began in 1984—for its 25th running. The races take place at Santa Anita Park today and Saturday. For the second consecutive year, the cup is a two-day event, and for the first time, features an all-female race program today.

The weekend events kicked off last night with a gala at the newly renovated Hollywood Palladium. Maroon 5 performed and Joel Madden spun. Grey Goose sponsored and BNC handled PR. Attendees had the chance to participate in Horseshoes for Hope, a horseshoe toss that raised funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The Breeders’ Cup hopes to raise more than $500,000 this weekend for those organizations plus Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and Thoroughbred Industry Causes.

The Breeders’ Cup will also take to Santa Anita in 2009.
