| Weekend Festival Preview: Films in Ojai, Food in Palm Desert and Studio City |

Southern California's weekend calendar includes a dense slate of festivals, including wine and food events in Los Angeles and the desert, and a burgeoning film festival to the north.
The National Kidney Foundation's 22nd annual Great Chefs of Los Angeles event will take to the CBS Studio Center in Studio City on Sunday. Gino Angelini is to be honored, and chef Govind Armstrong will host. Dakota and 25 Degrees chef Tim Goodall and Grace's Neal Fraser are among the more than two dozen participating chefs. American Airlines is a sponsor.
The four-day Art of Food & Wine Palm Desert kicks off tonight and runs through Sunday. Tonight's opening event, "Food Flight," takes to the Desert Willow Golf Resort with live music, art, and informal modeling from El Paseo boutiques. Other events include wine dinners, a dessert tasting, and a B-52s concert at the McCallum Theatre. The "Grand Tastings" at the Desert Springs JW Marriott Resort & Spa rounds out the weekend.
The ninth annual Ojai Film Festival also kicks off tonight and runs through the weekend, with 57 independent films, ceremonies, and a seminar program. The Ojai Valley Inn & Spa is the event's hosting sponsor and headquarters. Ray Bradbury and the directing/producing team of Lauren Shuler Donner and Richard Donner will pick up honors, followed by the Filmmaker Awards and the closing-night party on Sunday. The Ojai Film Festival Celebrity Golf Classic is a new addition. Mo McFadden is the festival's executive director.
