Ladies' Night
The intimate, all-female group of entertainment and media execs at the Buzz Girls' networking event let their inner adolescents shine during a Mamma Mia singalong celebrating the film's DVD release.
Even top-level female executives can be girls who just want to have fun. And they got to realize those impulses at the women-only networking event hosted by tastemaker event series organizers the Buzz Girls, with Allure magazine and Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Tuesday night. The intimate social gathering drew well-established players from the entertainment, lifestyle, and media industries, and celebrated the DVD launch of Mamma Mia.

The event took over the curvilinear Zune L.A. space, Microsoft's long-term pop-up on Beverly Boulevard. Guests got touch-ups from artists from Colorescience upstairs, as well as hand massages and polish changes from Bliss. Downstairs, a photo booth from Foto Cabina encouraged guests to capture themselves clad in the pink and white boas on offer as they entered.

Tres L.A. passed nibbles including tuna tartare and seafood ceviche, Crumbs offered cupcakes, and a carnival-style popcorn machine offered movie snacks.

A screening of the movie—a version of the DVD with karaoke-style lyrics sprawling across the screen—began around 8 p.m., and guests lounged on low-slung furniture from Taylor Creative to watch. Some actively participated, evoking teen girls at a pajama party. As the movie wrapped up—and as guests processed more of the available alcohol—the energy heightened. Some boa-clad guests (and hosts) jumped on stage to belt the movie's title song, dancing and stomping so enthusiastically that they temporarily knocked out the sound feed (which was quickly restored).

After a raffle that included five Zune players and a gift certificate to Piperlime.com, guests scooped up the event series' renowned gift bags, filled with products from the likes of True Religion, Sonya Dakar, Philosophy, Michael Stars, Cosabella, Joico, and Stila.

TIL PR owner and founder Heather Hope-Allison created and runs the Buzz Girls event series. The Buzz Girls managed the guest list with Allure and Universal, accepting 105 R.S.V.P.s for an ultimate attendance of 97.
