Copa d’Oro—which translates to "cup of gold," a phrase Spanish explorers used to describe California’s poppy—is the name and theme of Santa Monica’s newest bar. Kelly Architects designed the bar, which features an old-world Spanish-Mediterranean look with terra-cotta tiles on the floor, a custom-designed wooden bar that incorporates an argyle design, antique mirrors, Edison lights and chandeliers, and a rich orange and chocolate palette.

Handcrafted drinks are the draw: The menu features 50 signature cocktails created by mixologist Vincenzo Marainella, based on fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs available at the local farmers market. Other menu offerings include a wine list, a few beers on tap, and grilled panini.

The venue has two V.I.P. areas that hold eight to 10 people each, and the space has a maximum capacity of 130. Owners want to get situated before renting the venue out for events; Copa d’Oro will be available for buyouts in March.
