| Adding to the spate of new Latin restaurants to the downtown dining scene, Yxta Cocina Mexicana opened in late February, joining Casa, Provecho, and Conga Room. The new restaurant is decorated in modern Mexican furnishings with artwork from Mexico City, a wall with 15 flags crafted by artists from that country, a mosaic-tiled wall backing the bar, and hand-blown chandeliers over the bar and dining room. High ceilings, white-washed walls, and exposed brick round out the look. Contemporary furniture on wooden floors provides seating, along with leather chairs and banquettes.
Menu items consist mainly of traditional Mexican favorites like mole, enchiladas, and tacos. Signature dishes include shrimp taquitos and tacos al pastor made in the restaurant's own vertical grill.
The space features a full bar with 30 premium tequilas on offer; specialty cocktails are made daily with house-made aguas frescas and sweet-and-sour mix.
The venue is available for full and partial buyouts. The dining room holds 150, a patio holds 50, and the bar area holds 28.
