Pre-Emmy Roundup Includes Swag in Spades
Keira Knightley and Allison Janney were among the entertainment industry crowd braving the late-summer heat to peruse vendors gathered on the lawn of Hollywood’s Wattles Mansion by Silver Spoon Marketing’s Melissa Lemer and Lorena Bendinskas for their pre-Emmy “Buffet.” In what must be a sign of the times, this year’s two-day swagfest featured two yoga “lifestyle” companies—Karma and Plank—as well as purveyors of underwear—Spanx and Fashion Forms—and outerwear, Magaschoni cashmere. New designer Kirsten Jade Inc. unveiled a debut line of ornate evening dresses while Gorjana jewelry displayed delicate gold and silver pieces. Footwear was big this year, with appearances by Franco Sarto and Tom’s Foundation, which will donate 10,000 pairs of cloth shoes to needy children in Argentina. The event raised $10,000 for the foundation. BWR handled PR.

That was, of course, only one of many pre-Emmy suites taking over the town. The Mark Kearney Group and Vivian Turner Styles collaborated on their “Iced Out” suite in honor of White Flash diamonds. Celebrities like Jaime Pressly meandered through an airy home above Sunset Plaza, where handbag and jewelry designer Charlie Lapson introduced his new line of watches, while David Kahn showed his forgiving line of luxury denim and, in the guest house, Tie Evolution displayed its unusual line of hats, cuffs, and skirts fashioned from vintage ties. GrooveCrewLA manned the poolside bar, serving up Absolut’s super premium Level Vodka for Future Brands. Guests nibbled on Bodega Chocolates and took home a certificate good for a day of services from Your Personal Assistant. Handling publicity were Henry Eschelman and Michele Angeloni of Platform Media Group.

The week before the Emmys also featured preparties, such as the Santa Monica fashion bash sponsored by the B.NY boutique and British handbag designer Jas MB. The event began with a fashion show of Japanese and European designs and continued on with an after-party spun by DJ Spinderella. Volvo, Complex magazine, and Absolut Ruby Red cosponsored the event. Proceeds from the evening’s shopping benefited the Victoria Rowell Foundation, which provides arts opportunities to orphaned children.

On Emmy day, Rosanna Arquette hosted a “Re-Boot & Rock the Beach” clean-up event at Venice Beach sponsored by Heal the Bay and Arrowhead water. Jurassic 5 and Jonny Lang thanked volunteers with a concert.
