X Factor
For its X Games celebration, Rolling Stone rolled out ramps and rails for a stunt-packed party.
The X Games may have officially wrapped up on Sunday, but the daredevil antics that characterize the sporting event continued well after the last competition with Rolling Stone’s post-games party at Avalon. As V.I.P.s like Tony Hawk, Jason Ellis, and Sal Masekela—who hosted the event—arrived, bikers soared and flipped off ramps set behind a synthetic grass arrivals carpet. Rolling Stone director of special events Keira Ford tapped Ark Endeavors’ Noah Flom to produce the event, and he had the idea of creating the arrivals ramps, as well as a mini skate and freestyle BMX park on the venue’s dance floor, complete with rail slides off the stage and a selection of ramps.

While Flom may have worked closely with the fire marshal to ensure that the event’s action-sports elements adhered to fire codes and that proper safety precautions were taken to safeguard guests, host Ellis invited female guests to lie across a ramp while bikers and skaters jumped over them and challenged the women to pose in, shall we say, compromising positions.

Those less daring—or perhaps more sober—could get temporary tattoos courtesy of the folks at L.A. Ink. Women had additional opportunities to mix with the entertainment when members of the band Eagles of Death Metal invited gals to dance with them onstage during their live performance.
