Where to Take Out-of-Towners

In Pasadena: Away from busy Colorado Boulevard, Red White & Bluezz offers live jazz on weekends and serves wine, cheese, chocolate, and charcuterie flights. It has a celebratory feel appropriate for visitors to town. A private dining room and covered patio are off the main restaurant.

In Santa Monica: Visitors will enjoy spectacular sunsets at the light and airy seaside restaurant Catch in the historic Hotel Casa del Mar. With its prime Pacific location, the kitchen plays homage to the sea with sushi and other freshly caught ingredients.

In West Hollywood: New Yorkers will feel comfortable at One Sunset, a sequel to the One in their town’s meatpacking district. It features five distinct spaces, including a champagne bar with a communal table for its small-plates menu and two lounges lit only by candlelight.

In Beverly Hills: Over-the-top import Gonpachi brings a taste of Tokyo to the States. Open since March, the once-cavernous 11,000-square-foot space has been split into two distinct areas, creating a sushi bar separate from the restaurant.
