Vanity Fair Cancels Oscar Party
Imagine, if you will, tranquilizing the 800-pound gorilla of Oscar events—because it just happened. A statement on Vanity Fair's Web site today announced that the magazine has canceled its Academy Awards party this year in support of the writers and others affected by the strike. According to the statement, the party will go on again next year. The announcement comes at a time when it appears that the months-long writers strike might be drawing to a close. With the party's longtime venue Morton's having recently closed, the party was expected to move to Craft in Century City.
