OVERVIEW
The Shrine has hosted an array of performances, conventions, and events—from MTV award shows to Miss Universe pageants—since opening in 1926 (the original 1906 building burned down in 1920). With 6,300 seats and an adjoining 54,000-square-foot expo center, it is one of the largest event spaces in L.A. In 1993, the stage, lighting and sound systems, foyers, roof, and parking structures got an upgrade.
