2 New Nightspots for Fall Entertaining
SBE's new Mi-6 Photo: Shawn Bishop
Two new high-design clubs are among this fall's new nightlife offerings. Here's a look inside.
1. SBE 's new nightclub, Mi-6 , opened in September in the former Foxtail space. A significant departure from that venue's opulent Art Deco look, Mi-6 has a modern design with lighting along the walls in striped arrangements. The West Hollywood space has booth seating, dual dance floors, and a layout on three levels. The space has a total capacity of about 400, with V.I.P. areas, multiple full-service bars, and smoking patios. There is an AEW sound system and DJ booth with built-in Serato. LEDs light the dance floor. Speciality cocktails use high-end and organic ingredients. Valet parking is available.

3 New Wine Bars
Barbrix Photo: Lisa Franchot
Thirsty? In the last month, a new crop of wine bars has opened around town. Here are three spaces for an after-work sip or an evening of entertaining.
1. Opened in late April, Pourtal combines the traditional wine bar concept with a self-service tasting room, allowing guests to sample wines at their own pace. The venue features 40 varieties for tasting by way of Enomatic machines—the dispensing systems popping up everywhere—and an additional 20 wines available by the glass. All wines are available to purchase by the bottle for drinking on the spot or for takeout. Wines rotate frequently. For events, wine director Peter Birmingham can design custom tasting tours and can work within a theme, such as organic or local wines. There are three large flat-screen video displays to use for video clips and signage. The space is available for buyouts and can host tastings for 20.

3 Stylish Boutique Hotels on the Westside
Le Petit Hotel Photo: Rouse Media
There are plenty of big-name, big-scale hotels amid the sprawl of Los Angeles. Here are some smaller, boutique lodging options to round out the lot.
1. Located in a residential area of West Hollywood, steps from the Sunset Strip, sits the new Le Petit Hotel —an 80-room all-suite hotel inspired by the bohemian lifestyle. Opened last month, the hotel features luxe fabrics, vibrant colors, and antique furnishings that combine to create an atmosphere of decadence that still evokes the comfort of a home. Other decor elements include Oriental rugs, handmade Spanish and Moroccan tile, weathered wood floors, and artworks that together create a turn-of-the-century European look. Rooms have bamboo mattresses, 600-plus thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, balconies, iPod connectivity, and Waterworks fixtures; in-room spa services are also available.
The hotel has multiple areas on its four-tiered rooftop that can be used for special events. The space features gardens, a saltwater pool, indoor and outdoor lounges, and a café. The entire rooftop has a capacity of 100, but can be broken into sections for smaller events. Other areas include the café for 35, the fireplace for 40, and the garden with a capacity of 60.

3 Reinvented Hollywood Clubs
Halo Photo: Sterling Davis
The lifetime of a club in the short-attention-span town known as Hollywood may be just a few years—or less. Here are three recent makeovers that have popped up as reincarnations of older clubs.
1. Nightlife impresarios Chris Breed and Eric James Virgets, creators of the Green Door , have transformed the space formerly known as Ritual. The newly made-over club had a soft opening at the beginning of the month but officially debuted in the second week of April. Now dubbed Halo , the owners intended for the space to capture the essence of old Hollywood glamour in a contemporary setting. (Where have you heard that before?) The former modern Asian decor has been replaced with simple black and white, and crystal and glass bubble chandeliers cast a warm glow throughout the space.
The venue features a garden patio, a dance floor, two bars, a smoking patio with a retractable roof, multiple V.I.P. areas, and a private room for 20. A separate elevated area with a view of the dance floor is also available. The club is open to full and partial buyouts and has a maximum capacity of 450.
