Angela Huffis the business manager for the Marine Corps Marathon, the MCM 10KRace, and the Healthy Kids Fun Run. She plans seven major eventsannually, including the MCM Health and Fitness Expo, and has organizedthe marathon for the past 13 years.
Venue: “The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill [has been] our race headquarters for several years. We hold a variety of events there, including a carbo-load pasta party for 1,600 guests and a press conference. The Hyatt's staff goes above and beyond, and the guest rooms are fabulous—that's why we come back year after year.”
Trade Show Production: “Putting on an expo with more than 250 vendors and 80,000 visitors can make you want to pull your hair out. With Hargrove Inc.'s help, I feel like I can conquer any challenge that comes my way. They take on any demand imaginable. This is the third year we're holding the runner's expo at the D.C. Armory, and we're calling on Hargrove yet again to use their exemplary organizational skills and talents to change an empty, 70,000-square-foot hall into a vibrant, world-class exposition.”
Balloons: “For years, Larry from Beautiful Balloons and Specialties has assisted me with the beautification of the Marine Corps Marathon's pasta parties and has produced gorgeous balloon arches for our running events. No job is too small or too large. It doesn't matter how early or late we need his services—Larry gets the job done.”
Security: “You can’t have large events without security, and Dan and Jennifer Bostick of Sentinel Protective Services provide this service with a high sense of commitment and professionalism. I didn't know what the requirements were for a large event like the pasta mess tent or the expo, and Jennifer and Dan came to the rescue.”
Audiovisual Production: ”American Audio Video can handle everything from sound systems, large projection screens, and LCD projectors to wireless mics. They have it all, and they know how to set it up and make it work to perfection.”
