BEADS, DOUBLOONS, CUPS & THROWS
The throwing of trinkets to the Mardi Gras crowds began in the early 1870's by the Twelfth Night Revelers. Today revelers toss strands of colored beads, plastic cups and doubloons (colored aluminum coins that depict the parade theme and the logo of the krewe, the masking and parading club).
