The superhero-themed bash in Indianapolis wasn't the only Super Bowl event Maxim threw last weekend. Expanding its reach beyond the football championship's host city of Indianapolis, the lad mag hosted a series of kickoff parties in eight other markets, building on last year's effort that saw simultaneous gatherings in Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, and San Diego.
This year, Maxim took its festivities to New York, holding court at Greenwich Village Country Club, as well as Vibe Ultra Music Lounge in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Park Tavern in Atlanta; District nightclub in Washington; Ei8ht in Houston; Harrah's Resort Atlantic City's Pool After Dark; Havana in Corpus Christi, Texas; and Aquavor in Hammond, Indiana.
Produced by the Passion Group, the ticketed events on Friday and Saturday night were open to the public and drew a mostly male crowd to the drinking spots with the scantily clad women Maxim deemed “hometown hotties” and music spun by DJs. There was, naturally, plenty of branding at the satellite parties, with poster boards of the magazine's recent issues, staffers in tees emblazoned with logos, and videos from Maxim's previous Super Bowl affairs playing on screens.
