| M. John Richard, formerly of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, has been selected as the new president and C.E.O. of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. The center's board of directors brought Richard on to help it elevate its presence as one of the premier cultural centers in the world.
"After 19 years at NJPAC, my decision to leave New Jersey was a difficult one, but I'm enthusiastic about taking on a new challenge at the Adrienne Arsht Center," Richard said. "As we work to unite Miami's diverse population through the performing arts, the Adrienne Arsht Center will continue to move toward its goal of becoming the premier performing arts center of the 21st century."
Previously, as C.E.O. and executive vice president of the New Jersey center, Richard led a capital campaign that garnered more than $187 million for the center before its opening in 1997, assembled the board of directors, and orchestrated an endowment program with a goal of $100 million before his departure.
