| Dueling-Piano Bar Opens in Coconut Grove |
|
Crazy Pianos Miami, a dueling-piano bar, opened in early May in the space formerly occupied by Café Tu Tu Tango in Coconut Grove’s Coco Walk. Part piano bar, part restaurant, the 7,000-square-foot venue is the Netherlands-based company's first U.S. location.
The venue’s seven resident pianists perform two at a time, accompanied by a professional drummer, with six of the pianists rotating throughout the night. The pianists take guests’ requests and specialize in music from the 1970s through today’s top 40, adding comedic asides mixed into the song format. |

The company also offers off-site entertainment via Crazy Pianos On Tour, a packaged version of the performances that comes with the pianos, lights, sound system, and pianists. Saxophonists and guitar players are also available. Cocktail workshops where guests can learn to tend bar are also available for events, priced at $20 per person.
The restaurant can seat 286 people for full buyouts, or accommodate as many as 500 for receptions. There is a raised V.I.P. area, separated from the main space by a wood railing, that seats 33.
The menu mixes classic American fare like New York strip steak and macaroni and cheese with Japanese and seafood dishes like wasabi-sesame encrusted tuna and coconut rum-glazed mahi mahi. Group menus are available for private events.
