Budget-Friendly Hollywood Beach Hotel Opens With Teambuilding Activities
The Hollywood Beach Hotel and Hostel is the latest venture from the South Beach Group, the hotel developers responsible for the Catalina Hotel and Beach Club and Riviera South Beach, among other hotels. The budget-friendly property, with rooms starting at just $19, opened last week and has various on-site activities to cater to groups.

Event options range from beach barbecues—for which the hotel staff will handle permitting through the City of Hollywood—to teambuilding and daytime activities like fishing, surfing, and beach volleyball tournaments.

For more traditional events, the hotel’s 2,000-square-foot main house can accommodate 200 and has a common area with a full kitchen, lounge seating, and a 600-square-foot open-air sundeck. In addition, the larger hotel rooms can be arranged for a meeting for 12.

The hotel has 24 rooms and sleeps a total of 96 guests, though additional beds can be added to the larger rooms to accommodate as many as 200. There are eight traditional hotel rooms with kitchenettes and eight two-room suites that sleep six. Additionally, there are eight hostel-style rooms with bunk beds for four and private bathrooms.

Though currently there is no restaurant on the property, the South Beach Group has plans for a 200-seat taco grill and juice bar to open in 2010; it will serve as additional event space and offer catering services throughout the hotel.
